WHO AM I?
My name is Carter Cook and I live in Coolangatta, Australia.
I started surfing and skating when I about 8 years old. From the beginning, I was always fascinated by the technique and style of other skaters and surfers. I loved breaking it down and figuring out my own unique way of moving. Competitions were never really my focus. I preferred to surf and skate for myself, honing skills that made me a better person in and out of the water. Style and technique have always been more important to me than scores.
I love creating my own content to showcase my skills on a surfy and skatey. I've always been interested in filmmaking and editing, so I merged them together and created a few of my own short films alongside content for social media.
For a long time, I didn’t have any sponsors, but eventually I was picked up by RVCA, Billabong, and STCY Surfboards along with other companies. After finishing school, I dove deep into the craft of surfing and began making boards with STCY. Learning how surfboards are crafted and how equipment affects performance. It gave me a whole new perspective on style, technique, and flow and how the small details effect the bigger picture.
I've been building on my own surfing/skating for the last 15 years and am now keen to share what i'v Learnt, Tested and Failed.
Eventually getting into surf coaching at Surfing Australia (HPC) I found a new passion to pass on my own knowledge. Coaching for me is about so much more than winning heats. It's how we fine tune the details to feel and look smooth and strong all with a smile on ya face. Surfing and skating is an art, a unique way to express yourself through your board. It’s about the connection you feel. Sharing the differences between each of us.
When you work with me, my goal is to help you build confidence and a real passion for surfing and skateboarding. I want to help you master the fundamentals, grow your bag of tricks and deepen your connection with the sport and the equipment you ride.
Together, we’ll focus on improving technique, developing style, and enjoying the journey every step of the way.
Cheers Carti
